Hilton Head Boat Charters – Our 14 Favorite Restaurants

The #1 Question we get at Hilton Head Boat Charters?

I get asked many questions as a charter boat Captain for Hilton Head Boat Charters. They range from the topical – “So what do you think about the Murdaugh trial” to the observational – “What time of day is best to see dolphin” and to the informative – “How long can Dolphins stay underwater? But by far and away, the #1 question I get on my Hilton Head Boat Tours is – “What are your favorite restaurants on the island.”

So, I decided to take a few minutes, put pen to paper, and share a top-line overview of my top 14 restaurants on Hilton Head Island. Whether you are looking for fine dining, casual eats, or something in between, this guide has something for everyone. From Seafood and steak houses to vegan-friendly establishments and more, we have rounded up some of the best eateries that Hilton Head offers. So, grab your fork and knife – it is time to explore what these fantastic restaurants can do!

The Old Oyster Factory

This waterfront restaurant is situated right on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway. It serves up some of the freshest seafood dishes around. The menu includes Oysters Rockefeller, crispy fried flounder, and blackened salmon. Plus, the outdoor seating area has spectacular views of the water. This place gets cranking during the summer as it is a Hilton Head institution – so definitely be sure to call ahead for a reservation.

Coast

Located in Sea Pines Plantation, this upscale restaurant on the beach offers fantastic views and a Seafood focused menu. This is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or family outing with its swanky atmosphere and beachfront setting.

Olive and Fig

If you are looking for Mediterranean fare – this is 100% the place for you. Its quaint atmosphere is perfect for casual dinners for couples or families. My favorite meal here starts with the Greek Saganaki, followed by the Shawarma combination platter. Tucked away just over the bridge on Bluffton – this little delight is a total break from the norm.

Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks

Serving up classic Lowcountry cuisine since 1969, Hudson’s has become a local favorite. They offer extensive seafood dishes like shrimp & grits, crab cakes, and oysters Rockefeller. Plus, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the marina while dining on the patio. For oyster lovers – there isn’t a better place on the island.

The Boathouse

Located on the island’s north end and right next to Hudson’s, the Boathouse is constantly jumping. It has excellent views to go along with a fantastic bar. They truly have something for everybody here. From Seafood to burgers and from Sushi to steak – there is something at the Boathouse for the whole family – even the kids. Bonus – they also have the best merch shop on the island – so if you want something different from the traditional Salty Dog t-shirt, the Boathouse has you covered.

Okko

This is, by far and away, our favorite restaurant on the island! Located in a strip mall mid-island, Okko is like an upscale New York City Sushi Lounge! They have fantastic Sushi (try the Cowboy roll!) and hibachi, the service is always professional and quick, and the ambiance is top-notch. We love Okko – and you will love it too!

Pomodori

Located on the island’s south end, Pomodori is an absolute gem of an Italian restaurant. It’s our favorite on the island – and there are many Italian places to choose from. Their Sicilian-inspired menu is to die for. I mean, there’s not a single thing on that menu that I wouldn’t eat. Oh, and the wine list is excellent as well. Insider’s Tip – Call days in advance for a reservation – this place books out fast.

The Crazy Crab

A local favorite since 1985, this restaurant serves classic Lowcountry dishes like shrimp & grits and fried flounder. They also offer incredible seafood platters perfect for sharing with family and friends. If you visit the location on the north end, they have grand marsh and Calibogue Sound views.

Street Meet

This trendy spot is great for a casual meal with friends. Their menu features classic American fare such as hamburgers, sandwiches, and tacos – all made with high-quality ingredients. Plus, they have an impressive beer list and an outdoor seating area for people-watching.

The Frosty Frog

The Frosty Frog is known for its frozen drinks, but let me tell you – their menu is extensive, their portions are generous, and their food prices won’t break the bank either. The Frosty Frog is located in Coligny Plaza and is a perfect place to roll off the beach with the whole family. They have tons of TV’s everywhere – and for kids – their menu is excellent. You can’t go wrong with the Frog!

The Big Bamboo

This Tiki-inspired restaurant is located in Coligny Plaza, and they are known as much for the live music as they are for their food. Not only is this one of our favorite casual restaurants, but its owners, Tristan and Stacy, are some of our favorite people! The “Boo” has indoor and outdoor seating – a great menu, and they almost always have a band going no matter the time of day.

Dockside

Dockside is the sister restaurant to the Boathouse and is located right next door. If you have a family and are looking for a great place to catch a sunset and a cocktail, Dockside has got you covered. It is excellent in all seasons, both inside and out. Insider’s tip – They have a playground and ping-pong tables for the kids, so if you have a group and the kids are old enough – you can watch them from the comfort of a high-top table near the bar and enjoy a cocktail at the same time!

New York City Pizza

No list would be complete without a great local pizza place. New York City Pizza, for my money, is the best pizza on the island. They have two locations – one on the south and one on the north. This is as close as you will get to thin-crust New York City Pizza here on the island.

Java Burrito

Super casual, fast, and good! Everybody we send to Java Burrito raves about it. Every time I’m on the island’s south end and crave Mexican, this is my go-to restaurant. Don’t walk; run to Java Burrito!
